Tisha B’Av around the world – 2024
Shavei Israel communities from different parts of the world shared photos with us of them at services and in mourning for the destruction of the Temples and remembering other tragedies in Jewish history that happened on Tisha B’Av, the annual fast day on the 9th day of the Jewish month of Av.
As is customary on this day, people sit on the floor in the synagogues while listening to ‘Megilat Eichah’ – the book of Lamentations, and reciting the ‘kinot’, mournful liturgical poems that reflect upon themes of tragedy and loss.
This year, the gravity of the day was felt that much more intensely, as the Jewish people and Israel don’t have to look back into history to feel sorry and to mourn…
