Panamanian Oct 7 survivor decides to convert to Judaism

Shavei Israel had the honor of having two very special guests: David and Denise Heiblum, survivors of the October 7 attack, who shared their personal story about their approach to Judaism and a message of hope.

Denise and David were married not long ago in a civil ceremony, and the couple lives on Kibbutz Kissufim, close to the border with Gaza. They hid in their home for three days during Hamas’s brutal terror attack. After surviving the assault, Denise decided to convert to Judaism. “Now I feel like I’m part of you and I want to become Jewish according to Halakha (Jewish law),” she said. Chaya Castillo, Coordinator of Shavei Israel’s Machon Miriam conversion center, said of the special program, “Having David and Denise come was beautiful. People participated both in person and by zoom, and the message was powerful and truly meaningful for  all of the audience.”

Below is a recording of the talk (in Spanish). May we continue to see miracles and may the People of Israel be strengthened, Am Israel Chai!
