Seeing the fruits of their support

Seeing the fruits of their support

With friends and supporters all over the world, it is always a treat when they come to Israel to see and appreciate some of our work firsthand.

This week it was our pleasure to host Surjit Singh Puri and Mrs. Jung Mi Kang, from New Delhi, India. These good friends of Shavei Israel have been longtime friends of Malka Moses, our logistics coordinator in India.

The couple had been coming annually to Israel, but due to Covid, had not been here for several years. They were so happy to finally return.

Some of the highlights of their trip was visiting Shavei’s staff at our Jerusalem office, where they shared about their love of Israel and excitement at Shavei’s work with the Bnei Menashe.

They were also thrilled to visit a number of the Bnei Menashe in their homes and community of Nof Hagalil. Since the Bnei Menashe have begun to settle in Nof Hagalil, a city nestled above pastural hills in the central Galilee, 1225 have made it their home; over 700 in 2021 alone.

We gave them gifts of our Hebrew-Mizo and Hebrew-Kuki phrase books, part of Shavei’s extensive line of books to help the lost and hidden Jewish communities we work with to reconnect with their Jewish heritage. These, specifically for the Bnei Menashe communities of Manipur and Mizoram, in northeast India.

We’re always thrilled to host our friends. To arrange your visit to Shavei Israel and the communities we work with contact us at office@shavei.org
