Guatemala: Back in Synagogue First Time Since Covid
Exciting moment at Shaarei HaShamaim, our community in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Due to Covid-19, it is the first ‘minyan’ (community prayer gathering) since March 2020! But it’s even more significant than that… Members of the community recently underwent formal conversion to Judaism. So it is literally the first time they were able to pray together in a formal minyan ever.
Our representative in Guatemala who’s also president of the Shaar HaShamaim community, Abraham Fernando Flores, was thrilled to share the photos with us. “We’re so happy to be together again, feeling like the community that we are!”
We’re happy for them as well. May they continue to grow as a community and in their knowledge, faith and commitment.
