Bnei Menashe ‘midrasha’ for women opens in the Galilee

With great excitement, ‘Shir Zion’, a midrasha (seminary) for Bnei Menashe women, 18-33, was opened in Nof Hagalil by the Hesder Yeshiva in Nof Hagalil, under the leadership of Rabbi Dani Sigalis, and the yeshiva administrator, Udi Klein. The midrasha was opened with the support of Shavei Israel, the Garin Torani and the city of Nof Hagalil.

The house of Jewish study opened with fifteen young women, all of whom made aliyah to Israel just half a year ago from Manipur in northeast India, with the goal of providing them, and those who will come after them, with spiritual support.

The midrasha itself is under the leadership of Einel Kappach and her excellent staff. It has a multi-faceted curriculum. In addition to Torah study, there are many practical things they will be learning there such as cooking and other life skills.

In attendance were both the mayor, Ronen Plot, and the chief rabbi of Nof Hagalil, Rav Herzl, who both spoke, Shavei Israel staff, as well as family and friends of the new students.
