A match made in Israel
Amos Haokip, along with more than 30 families, was able to make Aliyah in 2018 with the help of Shavei Israel. It was during the giyur (conversion) process in Israel that Amos met Yehudit, the woman who was to become his wife. After they finished, in late 2020, they were a step closer to getting married.
In January 2021, they had a meeting with a Shavei Israel representative to discuss all necessary things for their chatuna (wedding). In the evening of March 10th, the hall of the Midrahat Shvut Rachel was filled with joy and dancing as Amos and Yehudit had their chuppah, their wedding. They and the congregation danced and rejoiced all night.
Amos and Yehudit have now settled in Ma’alot. Yehudit goes to college, while Amos is busy making sure the apartment is ready for them to settle in together.
If it wasn’t for Shavei Israel, says Amos, they wouldn’t have been able to come to Israel or meet each other. They send their heartful thanks to our Chairman Michael Freund, Director of the Department of Bnei Menashe and Aliyah, Tzvi Khaute, and all the staff members of Shavei Israel.
