Rabbi Elisha Salas starts to work with the community of Alicante, Spain
Rabbi Elisha Salas, the ‘Shavei Israel’ emissary in Portugal, is currently expanding his activities to neighboring Spain, the home for many Bnei Anousim communities. This week, he begins to support the community of Alicante on an ongoing basis.
Rabbi Salas and the community of Alicante have a long-standing common history of friendship and cooperation relations. Rabbi spent in the city about 4 days a month teaching the Torah, and every time more and more participants joined the group wishing to re-embrace their Jewish heritage.
Observing the growing interest in the Torah classes and the revival of Jewish religious life in the region, the President of the local community turned to the Federation of Jewish communities of Spain for assistance that allowed Rabbi Salas to invest more time in his work in Alicante.
From now on, the rabbi will spend in Alicante a week every month. His plans include the teaching of the Torah and the Jewish tradition, as well as the organization of events for groups of men, women, children and the elderly people.
