Miriam Nenghoichong Haokip and family…waiting to make aliyah

We continue our series, “Bnei Menashe – in their own words,” with a new profile of a Bnei Menashe family that is praying to make aliyah this summer. But to do so, we need your help. You can sponsor a Bnei Menashe family for just $4,000 per immigrant.

This covers transportation from India plus the costs of sustaining each new immigrant in our absorption center, including room and board, Hebrew ulpan and more. In this, our second profile, meet Miriam Nenghoichong Haokip and her family.

It is said that one who lives in the land of Israel has a closer relationship with G-d. Therefore, I too would love to make aliyah as soon as possible in order to always be close to G-d. This hope and wish is not only to stand on the soil and land of Israel, but to become a true Jew, keeping all the mitzvot in the Land of Israel. Just as our physical body and soul are inseparable, we the Bnei Menashe sincerely pray that “we and Eretz Israel” are also inseparable. We do not wish to be separated for long!

I am 22-years-old and have completed my high school at Jawahar Novadaya Vidyalaya, one of the most prestigious institutions in India, sponsored by Indian government. Presently I am pursuing a graduate course at Bethany College, Churachandpur.

I am an Indian girl but I belong to the Jewish community. I consider myself very fortunate to be brought up in a humble Jewish family. I thank the Almighty G-d for his countless blessings.

Since I was a child, my parents and religious leaders would instruct us in the teachings, beliefs and practices of Judaism. Together we all sing a song, Ka Thangnge Ka Thangnge which speaks of our longing for the Promised Land. With G-d’s help, today many of the Bnei Menashe have stepped into the Land. For this, our heartiest thanks go to Shavei Israel.

I pray and wish that not only the Bnei Menashe, but all of the Jews still in Diaspora will march back to our true destination, Eretz Israel. May Almighty G-d bless and guide Shavei Israel eternally.

Long live Shavei Israel.

Please help us sing our song, Ka Thangnge Ka Thangnge, in the Holy Land, by helping Shavei Israel bring us home to Jerusalem. You can make a donation by visiting this link.
