Polish-speaking “Hidden Jews” have a new way of connecting to their heritage. Shavei Israel is launching a weekly “mini-yeshiva” to be taught entirely online by Rabbi Yitzhak Rapoport, a former Shavei emissary to Poland who now works with the Polish Jewish community for Shavei Israel from his home near Jerusalem.

The new online service is intended for Polish Jews not living near one of the main Shavei Israel centers in Krakow, Warsaw, Katowice or Wroclaw. Classes will be taught in the classic hevruta style, where participants study together in pairs. Since the course will be online, hevruta partners will pore over texts using Skype.

The mini-yeshiva will present a variety of topics concerning Jewish Law and machshavah (Jewish thought). Classes will be taught in two sessions on Monday nights: beginners from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM, and more advanced students from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Both are Polish time.

The course has a symbolic price of 25 zlotys (about $8.00) per month.
