Seminar for Chuetas takes place in Palma de Mallorca

Shavei Israel is continuing its series of “cultural conferences” for Cheutas in Palma de Mallorca. The most recent seminar took place on Thursday, October 17 with special guest speaker Kfir Shahar flying in from Israel. Shahar told the story of how he returned to Judaism and integrated into Israeli society. The talk was both informative and inspirational for other Chuetas considering return and aliyah.
The Chuetas (also known by the Hebrew term Bnei Anousim) are descendants of Jews who were compelled to convert to Catholicism more than 500 years ago and whom historians often refer to by the derogatory term Marranos.
The next two seminars will take place on November 14 and December 12. We wrote about the previous evening here. 50 people attended that session.
