Making aliyah: Meet David Ginboi Gangte

David Ginboi Gangte and his family
My name is David Ginboi Gangte. I am 51-years-old and I reside in Imphal along with my family: my wife Shira, son Baruch Chayim, and daughters Emuna and Talya. We belong to the Beit El- Langol Jewish community in Imphal, the capital of the Indian state of Manipur.
After retiring from the state’s Police Department, I now manage a taxi service in the city. I work very hard for five and a half days a week. My wife Shira manages the home and looks after the kids’ education.
It is my dream to make aliyah to the Promised Land one day, and if the opportunity arises be’ezrat Hashem (with the help of G-d), I would love to see my children grow up – both physically and spiritually – marry, and continue their rich Jewish traditions in the Land of Israel. For this to materialize, may Hashem (G-d) bless Shavei Israel and their efforts to help all the Bnei Menashe.
My eldest son Baruch Chayim, 13, is doing very well in his studies and has, since his bar mitzvah, taken a very keen interest in the Torah and our great sages of blessed memory. He has promised himself, if given the opportunity to make aliyah to Israel, to make a mark in the IDF before joining a yeshiva and then pursuing a professional career.
My youngest daughter Talya, 5, and her 7-year-old sister Emuna have also been excelling in their education. I would love to see them continue their studies and become professionals in Eretz Israel (the Land of Israel).
All of my blood relatives, including my younger brother Shmuel, an elder sister Ruth Vaiphei, and two younger sisters, have all settled in Israel. May we all merit to greet the Messiah from Jerusalem!
