Havdalah in Katowice, Poland
Katowice, Poland, recently held a festival of Jewish and Israeli culture. Shavei Israel’s emissary to the Katowice area, Rabbi Yehoshua Ellis, led a havdalah ceremony to mark the closing of Shabbat. It was held at the site of the New Synagogue in Katowice, which was torched by the Nazis in September, 1939.
