Even more Purim pictures from Shavei Israel!
Last week, we gave you a preview of Purim festivities at Shavei Israel-supported communities around the world (our newsletter was published before the actual holiday). Now we have some photos from the Megillah readings and Purim parties themselves. (Plus a special pre-Passover bonus from Portugal.)
Chile
The Yosef Jaim community in Chile celebrated with costumes, Megillah reading and a festive meal. Here are some pictures.
Bnei Menashe
The Bnei Menashe really know how to do Purim well. We shared with you some shots last week – here are some more. And what’s more holiday-friendly than a soccer tournament. OK, we don’t know the connection either, but the Bnei Menashe never miss an opportunity to compete with when there’s a field and a ball nearby.

Poland
Shavei Israel’s seminar for young Polish Jews in Israel this year overlapped with Purim and the group celebrated in two places – first in Tel Aviv and then in Jerusalem for Shushan Purim, which is traditionally held one day later in formerly walled cities. Here are a few shots – plus some video – from the group.
Spain
The Jewish community in Palma de Mallorca displays some funky costumes, delectable hamantaschen and guacamole (we assume not for the cookies…)
Bonus: Portugal
They’re dressed up in costumes, but this is not a Purim shpiel. Rather, Rabbi Elisha Salas attended an interfaith conference in Medelim to dramatize the Jewish roots of Passover. There were actors outfitted in medieval costumes, there was period music and even a mock Jewish wedding was held. The Jewish community of Belmonte celebrated afterward with a tasty (and kosher) barbeque.
Here are a few pictures.
