Shavei Israel’s director of marketing Laura Ben-David gave a presentation at last week’s Limmud Jerusalem conference. It was the first time Shavei Israel has participated in Limmud, which has for thirty years run Jewish conferences around the world. From its base outside Birmingham in the United Kingdom, Limmud has expanded to include 40 communities, from Melbourne to Moscow and, most recently, Israel’s capital.
Limmud Jerusalem attracted about 600 people in total. Laura Ben-David’s presentation was entitled “One nation, many faces – Jewish demography and destiny” and was inspired by Shavei Israel’s work with “lost” and “hidden” Jewish communities in some of the most far-flung spots on the globe. For many Limmud participants, it was their first exposure to Shavei Israel.
Limmud kicks off Shavei Israel’s fall season of programs and presentations. For readers in the U.S., there will be two opportunities to meet Shavei staff in person. In November, Ben-David will be traveling to the New York metropolitan area. Shavei Israel’s Founder and Chairman Michael Freund will follow with a trip in December.
