Bnei Menashe enjoy Avraham Fried concert
There was a very special Avraham Fried concert in Nof HaGalil this week. Over 1,000 Bnei Menashe immigrants from across Israel were in attendance, as well as thousands of others.
Fried, who has been popular for decades among American Orthodox Jews, was quite a novelty for the Bnei Menashe, who had not grown up hearing hits like ‘The Time Is Now’ and ‘No Jew Will Be Left Behind’. But the meaning in these songs resonated strongly for all of them and the joy on their faces as they listened to the meaningful lyrics and enjoyed the energy in the crowd was palpable.
Shavei Chairman Michael Freund was honored with addressing the crowd, and Fried himself gave a heartwarming shoutout to the Bnei Menashe. In attendance were both the mayor, Ronen Plot, and the chief rabbi of Nof Hagalil, Rav Herzl, as well as other dignitaries.
