Palma seminar features free concert of Jewish and Ladino music
In Palma de Mallorca this past weekend, dozens of people came together for s special seminar for Bnei Anousim sponsored by Shavei Israel. The Shabbaton featured as a special guest the Chief Rabbi of Madrid, Moshe Ben Dahan.
The overall topic of the seminar, which included classes, prayers and meals, was “The Relevance of Judaism in the Modern Day.” Rabbi Eliyahu Birnbaum, Shavei Israel’s educational director, and Shavei Israel Chairman Michael Freund flew in especially for the weekend.
Following the seminar, Shavei organized a free Saturday night concert of Jewish and Ladino music open to the public. Held at the Caixa Forum in Palma, Ioel Munjeh, a Bnei Anousim musician who now lives in the Israeli town of Safed, was the star performer.
