Personal stories of Bnei Anousim: a New project of the Ma’ani Center
This week, the Ma’ani Center of Shavei Israel launched a new series of conferences for Bnei Anousim and all those interested in their fascinating history. At the monthly meetings the participants are to share their personal experiences describing their reconnection to their Jewish roots and their way back to Judaism and the Jewish State.
The first event in the series attracted both the students of Shavei’s ulpan Machon Miriam and the wide public. The guest speaker was Leya Chaya Israel who made aliyah 5 1/2 years ago from Spain. Born in Alicante, she became interested in Jewish tradition after her participation in Shavei’s seminar in Barcelona and continued studying with Rabbi Nissan ben Abraham, our emissary in Palma de Mallorca then.
