Seminar for Italian Jews and Bnei Anousim in IsraelSeminario de Verano en Israel para Bnei Anusim de Italia
A group of 10 people from southern Italy – including both Bnei Anousim (Jews whose ancestors were forcibly converted to Catholicism more than 500 years ago) and members of the Jewish community of Naples – were in Israel for 10 days over the summer for a special seminar co-sponsored by Shavei Israel. The group was accompanied by Shavei Israel’s envoy to southern Italy, Rabbi Pinchas Punturello as they toured Israel, studied Torah and spent Shabbat in the Holy Land.
We have a selection of pictures from the trip below as well as a video we prepared featuring interviews with some of the participants as well as Shavei Israel Chairman Michael Freund. This was the first time Shavei Israel has brought a group from southern Italy to Israel.

Este verano, tuvo lugar un innovador evento. Un seminario de verano para miembros de la comunidad judía y Bnei Anusim del sur de Italia. El seminario fue organizado por Shavei Israel y la comunidad judía de Nápoles, y su base fue Jerusalem. Los Bnei Anusim pasearon por Israel, vivenciaron shabatonim y estudiaron Torá. Nuestro emisario para Italia, el Rabino Pinchas Punturello, dictó las mismas y acompañó a los participantes en esta hermosa experiencia.
