The Jewish holiday of Purim will be observed tomorrow around the world…including in India, where the Bnei Menashe are actively preparing for the festive celebration. At Beith Shalom, the main Shavei Israel Hebrew Center in Manipur, the Bnei Menashe youth have taken charge, cleaning up the community hall and buying materials to make costumes and decorations.
A packed Purim program for women leaders in the Bnei Menashe community will be held on the morning of the holiday. The schedule includes original songs; a speech by Shavei Israel’s emissary to Manipur, Yochanan Phatlual; and three special Purim activities: a quiz, a dramatic recreation of the Purim story, and even an Esther beauty contest!

The banners that you see here here will be hung at the gate to Beith Shalom as well as inside the main hall. Three talented Bnei Menashe artists worked on the poster: Deena Tungnung, Uriel Buhril and the Ben Zevulun brothers.
Finally, this year’s festivities in Manipur will be covered by the media. An AFP (Agence France Presse) reporter will be in Churachandpur to videotape the raucous reading of the Scroll of Esther, as well as to interview several Bnei Menashe families.

- La festividad judía de purim tendrá lugar mañana alrededor del mundo… incluyendo la India, donde los Bnei Menashé se encuentran preparando la festividad de manera activa.
